To ensure the capacity and longevity of lithium batteries, comprehensive maintenance is required from charging habits, driving styles, ambient temperature management, and long-term parking. Here are the key considerations:

Charging strategy optimization

Avoid full charge and deep discharge: It is recommended to set the upper limit of 80%-90% for daily charging to avoid being in a 100% full state for a long time; When the power is less than 20%, it should be charged in time to prevent deep discharge from causing lithium precipitation at the negative electrode.

Reduce high-frequency fast charging: The fast charging flow is large, the heat production is high, and long-term use will accelerate the attenuation. It is recommended to fast charge no more than 1 time per week, and give priority to AC slow charging (current ≤32A). After fast charging, let it sit for 10-15 minutes and wait for the battery to cool down to below 40°C before driving.

Set the power threshold reasonably: You can set a low battery reminder (such as an alarm at 30%) through the vehicle APP to avoid the battery being in a low SOC state for a long time.

Driving and energy management

Gentle driving: avoid sudden acceleration and braking, and it is recommended that the throttle opening does not exceed 70% to reduce the instantaneous high current output of the battery. Take advantage of the energy recovery system and choose a medium to high recovery intensity mode (e.g. single pedal mode).

Control high-speed driving time: The battery load increases significantly when the vehicle speed exceeds 120km/h, and it is recommended to take a break every 2 hours for long-distance travel to reduce the risk of continuous high-load operation.

Reduce the load on board: For every 100kg of weight added by the vehicle, the range may decrease by about 5%, and the trunk should be avoided from stacking heavy objects for a long time.

Ambient temperature control

High temperature protection: Try to choose a cool place or underground garage to avoid sun exposure when parking in summer. If the battery temperature is higher than 45°C, it is recommended to turn on the air conditioner to cool down for 10 minutes before charging.

Low temperature response: Before charging in winter, use the vehicle warm-up function to heat the battery (such as BYD's thermal management system). In an environment below -10°C, it is recommended to slow charge to 20% and then switch to fast charging to reduce the damage caused by obstruction of lithium ion migration.

Long-term parking management

Short-term parking (1-2 weeks): Keep the battery at 50%-60% and turn off the on-board network function to reduce standby power consumption.

‌长期闲置(>1个月)‌:电量应维持在30%-40%,避免满电或亏电存放。建议每2个月使用慢充补电至50%,以维持电池活性。

Through the above measures, the degradation of battery capacity can be effectively delayed and the service life of lithium batteries can be extended
